Hi everyone! I'm getting my first batch of 15 chicks from My Pet Chicken shipped in during the first days in April. I've been reading and reading for several years in preparation for this new chapter of my life and it seems I already land on BYC whenever I Google about anything chicken, LOL!

I'm in the process of getting my brooder set up and my hubby and I are converting an old metal storage shed into a large coop. I will be starting out with 7 Barnevelders, 6 Buff Brahmas, and 2 Favacaunas. 2 of the Barnevelders are roos. I am excited and anxious at the same time as I have two dogs that may see the new critters as prey. Gonna take it one day at a time...slowly.

Looking forward to hanging out with y'all!

Regards,
MaiseyMay

KEEP the dogs separated from the chickens and things should be fine. One of the most frequent predators of chickens is both dogs in the home and neighboring dogs allowed to run free. You don't hear about chickens mutilating or killing dogs. They always lose the battle. Please be sure they are safely enclosed.
