Greetings!

Hello there, and welcome to Backyard Chickens! I am so glad you joined us, I do hope you will make yourself at home here. Enjoy BYC!

Thank you, everyone for the welcoming words and advice! My big handsome boy, Oliver, is doing fine. I decided on grower crumbles for his regular feed, along with a few dried mealworms, and a couple of handfulls of scratch tossed about his pen. He never finishes his 2 cups of food, so i guess i don't have to worry about his overeating. His foot is still swollen and painful but the vet says it's gonna take quite awhile for that to heal. I think he would like to be more active, but his foot just hurts too much. It's cold and rainy today but his bed is dry and we ramped a piece of steel siding in front of his door with his food and water under that. Doing everything by the seat of my pants, having no experience with chickens. We bought him a new house but we haven't put it together yet. Any further advice anyone wants to send my way will be welcomed! I'll post a picture of him next week when i get over this crappy case of bronchitis
