Hello there! My name is Jenna and I am brand new at caring for chickens. As a child, my grandparents kept chickens, but I wasn’t responsible for taking care of them. I simply gathered eggs. Now as an adult, I have an 11 year old son with Autism. He is in middle school now and is taking an Introduction to Agriculture class as an elective. He has always loved baby chicks! As his science project, we decided to incubate and hatch baby chicks. A friend of ours had fertilized eggs from his flock of Rhode Island Whites. We incubated nine eggs and had a 100% hatch! Now they are 8 weeks old and we have 3 hens and 6 roosters! We have taken diligent care of them during the whole process. We found a chicken coop builder and, for Christmas, bought one and brought it home! My husband, son, and I have fallen in love with these beautiful Rhode Island White chickens! Our only issue now is finding a home for our roosters. We are keeping one, and our friend who gave us the eggs is taking 2. Three are available! Luckily, we live in a farming community and I am hoping to find a place for them!
