(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I had sixteen Bantams and sixteen RIRs in middle school. About five or so years ago, I had a handful of Bantams.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I currently have six Bantams.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Four Silkies, one white Frizzle Cochin and an OEGB that we think is a Silver Duckwing.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Watching them enjoy the outdoors. And picking them up to pet and talk to.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading, sewing and creating things on the computer. My favorite is just being out in nature.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am married to my best friend I met in college. We've been married since 2011. I've been working through a lot of my mental health issues, and raising chickens has really helped.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I met old friends at our local fair and reignited my love of chickens. I was sent an invite to the Facebook group, and found myself here eventually.
