Hello everyone! My name is Kitty and I'm a high schooler on the Ohio River. Well, I've always loved farms and helped out on one since I was four years old. Living in the suburbs isn't exactly where I want to be for making my own itsy-bitsy farm, but you work with what you have.
In my town (which will be kept private for now), backyard chickens have become a popular method of urban farming. If you drive down the street, there's a good chance you'll see a few hens pecking around a pen. Seeing that all of these people were doing it on half an acre, I thought to myself, "Hey, why not me?"
I'm working with an acre on a hill and I know I have my work cut out for me. I'm working on ideas for a coop-run that would be safe against coyotes and hawks as well as a fox and have the ability to drain water easily. It would be great to hear from you all with advice and tips to start.
Thanks!
