Grit alternatives

Currently I have three 3 week old ducks (exactly 3 weeks old) and we have run out of grit for them. The ducks are 1 Khaki Campbell, and 2 Swedes. TSC is out of chick grit, and I am not sure if it would be safe to give them poultry grit yet. Are there any alternatives? I heard sand might work?

Sand is too fine and can compact their gizzard.

Currently they are inside primarily but I think in a day or two they will go outside. What type of sand do you think is best?

I could but I wasn’t sure if it was okay for them to go for a bit without grit

They should be fine, just don't feed any fibrous treats.

Ducks eating commercial feed (crumbles or pellets) and nothing else don't need any grit at all. Stick to the crumbles or pellets until you can get some grit.
