grit and chicken starter for keets

hi friends,

are keets given grit on the first week?

i have 4 keets doing very well right now.

they're on purina medicated chicken starter. DH read somewhere they need higher protein content feed like gambird's or turkey. i read from guinea 101 here that i can give them what i'll give to chicken babies. should i change?

DH is right, they do need higher protein. So yes you should change. Keets are not chicks, they have different nutritional needs and need to be fed starter feeds with a much higher protein level in it. They should be on a Turkey, Game Bird or Pheasant starter feed medicated with Amprolium until they are 6-8 wks old. They can have grit if you are feeding them other foods and treats starting at 10 days old.
