Grit..decomposed granite?

Our chicks have access to an outdoor area that is part dirt and mostly DG. Will the DG work for the grit they need or should we also buy commercial grit?

Welcome to BYC! If you mean crushed granite, yes, that's an excellent source for grit. My girls have access to dirt, sand and pebbles which I see them eat readily. I also offer oyster shell.

Sounds good as most grit is granite.

I have a big hill of DG and have been dumping it in a big rubber tub (a low one) for grit and bathing in... the baby grit I was using before was granite so I thought it would be a good idea?
