I feel you're turning slightly more critical than helpful. What would make it a complete diet? what do you think is missing? In the wild they obviously don't rock up to the shop to buy pellets. Would be happy for advice / support / constructive criticism
Magpies aren't wild ducks they are domestic even if you found them in the "wild". Someone dumped a domestic duck at some point in time. I may be a bit critical since they are not receiving a complete feed and you asked for advice. I gave advice regarding grit and then you mentioned what you are feeding. But,you didn't want to hear the advice regarding a complete feed because you have your mind set. It's a response I see often. I have no recommendations for you, but where is the research that you have done to feed wheat, peas, and mealworms - which from your other post you mentioned the wheat isn't even ready?
Wow just wow. At which point did I state I was absolutely right. I've done a mixture of reading some from here some from people I know raising poultry some from bits and pieces. At which point was I adamant I was right? Did I not ask more questions? At which point did I suggest I wanted pampered or wasn't willing to take on advice? I thought asking why was a reasonable question. I was under the impression this was a friendly forum and day one apparently I'm ambushed by someone on a very high horse. Wheat can be fed and it recommends to soak for ducklings. I never said peas and mealworms were the only things they were getting if I can balance it in food I would like to have but I'm willing to give them whatever they need. They are my pets not simply egg layers. You understand you can give advice to newbies without being nasty about it right? A little nurturing isn't pampering. Really disappointed if this is the tone of this community
I didn't say any of this. You are misinterpreting what I did say. I said that people often come wanting pampered advice and when the advice doesn't match what they have in mind they aren't receptive.
I'm sorry but you very clearly said "but you didn't want to hear the advice because you had your mind set" I did read the link I also thanked you for it and bight poultry crumb. A 5kg bag at the moment until I gauge how much they go through. I also said a mixture of veg and greens. I also asked why this wasn't a complete diet. At no point did I disregard your advice despite your demenour as its not your advice I'm not keen on. I appreciate maybe you are just passionate about caring for the little lives properly and have maybe come across some people who aren't willing to take on advice but for the future maybe just a little self awareness. This kinf of response is really off putting and likely to prevent people from asking for advice in the future
You didn't originally state that you had any prepared feed until further down the thread. My original post stated ducklings need grit only if fed anything other than a complete feed. You came asking about grit. That is my advice regarding grit.
