Grit feeders - any recommendations?

Why buy a special feeder? I'd put it out in any old dish or sprinkle it on the ground around the feeder so they can peck and scratch at it.

Let them out in the yard, they will find all the grit they need.

For only 5 chickens, you could just use a little bowl. For more chickens, I like those metal gravity feeders for rabbits, with the solid bottom. I use those for grit and oyster shell.

Winters can be long here, with no access to the ground when the snow is deep, so I like to have it available. This time of year, you could just toss a bit on the ground.

I just made one. Four walls out of some scrap trim wood about 1' square and covered the bottom with errosion control cloth.

This is mine, i bought one at a swap(new) for my girls run, otherwise between the rain and snow it's gets washed away, plus i mix mine with oyster shell..

I have two of these for my six hens. One for grit and one for oyster. I like them because they can not be knocked over.
