I have a small box in the brooder filled with parakeet grit. My 2 week old chicks like to lay around and take dust baths in there. They also seem to eat a fair amount of grit.

My question is: Can young chicks eat too much grit?

What are you feeding them that they would need grit? If you are just feeding chick starter they do not need it. Be careful and read that box of grit because I bought some and after giving it to the chickens one time I noticed it had oyster shell in it. Little ones do not get the extra calcium.
