Welcome to BYC!
All of us are happy to have you here, we always have enough room on the BYC roost!
Feel free to ask questions, there are so many wonderful and knowledgeable people who will answer them!
I recommend looking up "chicken supply stores near me", or looking for the nearest Tractor Supply. I believe they go past Ottawa (according to google), so if you live near the States, you'll find one!
Enjoy your time on this amazing site!

worth a try - wasn't sure something other than grit could be detrimental to their guts...

Not being able to purchase grit in Canada is beyond strange to me. I wonder how feed stores, hatcheries and other companies are able to provide it for their poultry out there. Keeping the chicks in a penned area outside maybe extending a heat lamp out there should work so you don't need to give them grit. Chickens can be penned up or free range and they don't need a heat lamp at all! Hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do!
co-opp, etc. and whenever I felt lucky finding it at
Oh, but Australia would ship it for$$$$.So "feed store" was a new lead from you
