Grit

Im glad I came across this thread.

So I just recently introduced my girls (9 GLW) to some chick grit about 2 weeks ago, they are 16 weeks old on the 3rd. I also just took them off of chick starter and put them on grower/Broiler feed until they start to lay. I give them a small bowl of grit about an inch deep. They go after it like candy. it gets spilled and they all peck it up within probably an hour or so. I'm concerned that they might think its a treat? and I don't want them to have too much, so now I just offer it like once a week. am I over thinking this? will they regulate out what they need grit wise? I just don't want them to get impacted. are they just taking in so much now cause they've never had any?

Thanks,

WW

At 16 weeks they should be on adult size Poultry Grit.
Did you mean poultry grit?

Thanks GC!

No, I said chick grit 🤦‍♂️, I had no idea what I needed so I thought id start small and when they were laying id get the larger poultry grit.

Could they are eating so much of it to make up for the lack of it, in size and in general?

ill get some poultry grit ordered. Will they self regulate from there?
