Grit?

I got my grit on amazon and started them on it at week two. They're in a brooder but I figured if they were being raised by a hen they would be eating more than chick starter so I started giving them treats like broccoli and watermelon.

We finally have the coop and run done they are outside during the day and go back to coop at night on there own. All we gotta do is open and close the door, yahoo! But to stay on topic. I have been giving them chick grit, usually some in their food. They eat it up like candy. During the day they get bugs they find and we give them apples and pears for treats. Is there a rule of thumb on how much we should supply them? We have five 10 week old chicks.
