Grocery Store Chicken feed?

If I ever have to pay that much for chicken feed then I know some girls who'd dern well better start popping out some solid gold eggs!
Gora! What kinda grains they putting in that feed? Imported?
I love my girls but Kriminny! They seem healthy to me and are giving me TONS of delicious eggs!
I'm using Golden Oaks brand feed @ $7.25 a 50# bag and they love it!
Heck I even buy them the marked down (over-ripe or bruised) cantaloupes at our local fresh produce place for $1.00 each. Haven't had a complaint yet!
Please don't tell my girls they're poor they might get uppity and go on strike!

OMG, If I had to pay that for chicken feed, I wouldn't be able to eat myself, LOL!

I pay around $12-14 for feed, and I think that's high!

Do your girls lay golden eggs, by the way??

Wherever you buy your feed, the critical factor, I believe, is freshness. Whether grocery store or feed store, look at dates and think of turnover.

I buy scratch in the grocery store because I can buy less than 50 lbs., and cannot use even that in a month.

In a grocery stores, the feed on the shelf has at least been stored in A/C. My feed stores essentially store it outdoors; roofed, but certainly not climate controlled, or vermin proof.

Agree. Looked at the site. Humph. I'll take the local stuff, thanks. Never heard of Golden Oats, but you are about 5 states west of me, so I shouldn't have, nor should you be familiar with our local brands. Who knows what those guys are selling....

To each his own . I perfer feed with-out animal protein and animal by-products. oh and chemicals that are known to cause cancer..

Wow guess I got some shopping and comparing to do.

I found out where the farm supply store is but don't know how to find a feed mill or if there is one around. Surely there is.

Off to research.
Thanks.

$27 to $32 dollars for a 50lb bag?

It's only grain and the more protein the better, mine has corn, wheat and a total of 12 grains.
They get most of the good stuff from their time in the yard.
Chickens are just jungle birds and can do very well on their own.
