Gross Stuff (Button Female)

Yes, pictures would be helpful.
The smell could be from something rotting? That is concerning...

Cuttlebone will work. It's good for their beaks and for calcium. My adult quail never did touch it, but it's worth a try.
Also, add oyster shell grit, it's important. It's to help them digest their food as they don't have teeth, it also provides calcium. And it's inexpensive; Around $3 for a 1kg or 2kg in your local groceries store.

The smell is the poop, not rotting, but really gross.

Grit can be sand? The oyster shell can be replaced with other egg shells?

I will upload in a second.

Oh, poop... I'm not sure how to get rid of that. Has she excreted/pooped anything ever since she's been egg-bound?
And yes! Sand can be used for grit as well. Just put some sand in a separate bowl, and the quail will know what to do.

Alright, I've done a bit more research.

According to these forums, it's most recommended to give her 'Preparation H" or 'Prep H', apparently it shrinks the vent so then it'll get back in.
Otherwise you can use honey as a substitute.

What you do is first clean the vent with warm water (out of curiousity, what is that brown smudge on her vent? is that blood?) Then, with the honey, or prep H, you smear the honey on the prolapsed vent, wait 15 minutes or so, then push it back in. It hopefully should work. It probably won't work straight away though, so you might need to do it over a period of a few days.

I hope that helps. ^.^
