Last summer I got an infestation of ground bees in my kids sand box. I hated to do anything bout it but we fenced it off and DH treated the area in the fall.

This season it looked like things were OK but this morning all of a sudden I have a swarm! I am certain I spotted a queen surrounded by drones. If they were honey bees I would fence it off again, but they're ground dwellers who borrow in the sand.

Any tips? How do I get rid of them? I got stung twice today.

Are they bees or yellow jackets....they make nest in the ground? What we do is wait til night when they are inside and pour a little gas down the hole and stuff something in the hole to close it, that will take care of them.

Dag, I wish you had told me that yesterday!

They did follow me when I destroyed the hole.

I don't know what these buggers are, they're NOT honey bees that's for sure.
