Our Okla. weather is very balmy and nice at 70 + degrees today, but windy at 20 MPH. I have been putting them out in their
grow out cage in the daytime as long as we are in the 60-70's. They have an old dog house that I'm using for shelter and will soon let them stay outside even at night is the temps are in the 50-60's. They have mostly feathered out.

I'm wondering if the wind is a problem with that young of chick?

They should be ok as long as there is someplace they can go to get out of the wind. Even my adult birds get tired of a strong wind and will retreat to their coop. A tarp or anything else you can put up as a windbreak should do the job.

Thanks, y'all! Being the patient person that I am and didn't wait for answers, I went ahead and put them out in their grow out area. Hubby put cardboard on the south side because the wind is out of the south today. I put an extra scoop of sand and a couple of grass clippings. They are some very happy chickies right now!!

I gave the rest of the sand and clippings to the big girls and they are just as happy. I didn't have time to let them out for free range
time today.

Well, I just brought the little gals into their brooder because I'm tired and ready for them to bed down. They did awesome and loved it!
I'm going to leave the lamp off tonight as it's only going to be in the 60's. I'm going to keep them in at night for another week or so, then they'll stay in the grow out area to begin to get used to the older ladies. The big girls have shown a little interest in them, but not as much as I thought they would.
