Let me preempt this by saying I have a plethora of plastic skids. My work has them all the time and I try to find alternative uses for them. We got in some new equipment that came in large crates. So I decided to make a quick meat grow out coop for my bantams today. Here is what I started with. All scavenged items. Some left overs from other projects.

Next my helpers came to supervise the project.

Decided to cut the skid.

Then screwed the wooden plat form to the plastic skid.

I like this because it is fairly mobile as well. Just hook a tow chain to it and the skid is sturdy enough to be drug about. Also because it is plastic it won't rot or rust. When this one is finished I plan on trying to make one mostly out of plastic pallets. If nothing else they make superior sub floors.

It has been cold and raining today so I decided to work on stencils for the coops. Here is 1/2 of a lotus flower for the Brahma Bantams.

Nice day, so working on a second plastic skid coop. Spent most of the morning breaking down the crates.
Free plywood is a wonderful thing. I also love oops paint from Lowes. Cannot beat 5.00 a gallon!
