When you say "grow-out coop", do you mean for when the chicks grow out of the brooder? There are these great cheap pens at my feedstore that I'm looking into for chicks who have grown out of the brooder who I need to sell, leftover from hatches and such. So that would be my grow-out coop... right?

A cardboard box doesn't make a coop. A coop is a separate thing from a brooder. Something transitioning between the brooder and the hen house.

This is what brought me to this thread.

I have chicks to big for the brooder but to small for the hen house with larger birds.

Well I put them in with the Delawares and I think they'll be okay. My Delawares are easy going with the young ones.
