I see some really nice set ups here. Ok so mine will be in a box in the house for 2 weeks. Then out to the new coop (no big girls) and I was going to enclose the space under the nesting boxes which is 7 x 2 with a heat lamp (15 birds) for like 2 more weeks. Then can I let them roam about inside the coop-it is pretty open-still with the heat lamp available? I mean, do they go outside in the run when they are that little? It has been about 50-60 degrees in the daytime here and about 35 at night.

They'll start to "wander" out at 5 weeks, but they are pretty chicken.

Hmmm...so I think then I can feel ok about leaving the heat lamp on under the nest boxes and an opening for them to go hang out in the coop when they choose. I bet they would acclimate pretty quickly. NICE! And really..those other boxes are so pretty.

I don't see what not. As long as they have a place to get warm they should be fine!! I usually brood all my chicks on my back porch with a heat lamp.
