Purina makes a Turkey grower/finisher but it says Turkey on the label it is 22% protein. Their chicken chick food is called Start N Grow, which is sort of a combined Starter/Grower, it is 18% protein.

  3. the bag I purchased did not say turkey but it had a list of pictures of layers, ducks, turkeys and meat birds. my hens still seem to eat it though

What you bought is an all flock grower. It's designed to be fed to chicks, turkeys, ducks, geese.. that are growing but not laying yet. There is no harm in feeding it to layers but it is deficient in Ca. You need to be feeding back your egg shells or offering oyster shells or limestone to add Ca to the diet.
