Growing chicken greens - what seeds do i need?

I Have grown buckwheat for my chickens and am planting for the fourth time any day now. My chicks seem to love it best when the white flowers appear. Stems are stripped of leaves and flowers quickly. It is very fast. Seems to grow well regardless of temps.

I am also trying to grow enough feed to keep my flock busy, They also graze/forage. its more for the winter months where there may not be such a plethora of bugs. Currently growing for winter storage.. millies ( corn ) lucerne , mustard and sunflowers oh and quinoa and oats , I am looking for a source of buckwheat and flaxseed. I also have marigolds and spinach for greens.

apparently the marigolds and millies may produce a more golden yolk will let you know how it goes!
( based in sa but hopefully heading to NZ by the end of the year! )

Thanks to all for this information; I too want to plant some veggies for my chickens this year and was wondering what to plant. Now I know!!

I am curious, in South Africa do the millies (corn) have to be cooked to be called "millies?" Or, is it just another name for maize?

Alfalfa is lucerne just about anywhere except in North America.
