Growing for a small flock

I just enjoy sunflowers. Even when I had practically no yard in a rental property, I managed to make a spot for sunflowers. I usually leave the seeds to enjoy wildlife watching and harvest a small amount for myself. Now I always think about what I can do for the girls too. Drying a few for them to enjoy this fall. Not enough to last through winter. Next year I'll have to plant more :D. What do you plan to grow for your flock on a regular basis?

My bunch have their own garden that I started from seed for a $1. They get almost all the produce, turnip greens, zucchini, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, and of course all the weeds! I'm hoping to add sunflowers next year, and I'm going to build a cold box for spinach and lettuce this winter. :)

This has given me sort of an idea. I have a small raised bed dedicated to potatoes. I've been adding straw and compost to build it vertically with chicken wire added as a soft wall. I was thinking of leaving it to compost over winter and adding the girls coop cleanings as well. Now I'm thinking maybe I can build a small frame to lay over a portion of it and the heat from everything will make a nice winter growing spot...
