I set eggs today. I suspect that the majority will be unfertilized. During the week I will discard clears and set some in their place.

I have one large bin incubator that accepts a 12V battery and the battery on standby. I've had trouble with eggs bunching up on the turners, but in a pinch it'll work. https://a.co/d/5hQXInJ

The much anticipated (at least for me) Day 10 Candling

These are only the BOs and LAs

I have some errands to run and I'll (attempt to) candle the BTRs and CP's when I get back.

I am setting some suspected fertile eggs, early, then going to save up eggs that are fertile to set for valentines.. I did not want to break any more eggs, but these are one egg from each of my younger hens.

the light tan one middle top is fertile for sure.

My test run dad is a silky
Below the eggs are from...

brown glossy egg- black naked neck hen "Elvis." Paparazzi hatch.

Glossy blue egg is a black frizzle Paparazzi hatch.

Tan matte egg I have 3 total LO from last year's January 2 hatch "Ladybug"

NN dark green round glossy egg from Paparazzi hatch.

small gray f egg is a frizzle from cookie hatch "Cream. "

OE matte egg dark gray is maybe "Bernice " a Meyer.

NNW pale matte egg is "Gwyneth" from Paparazzi hatch

Last egg i am not sure about.

I had my son help me figure out the exposure issue with the last video and I got a better view into the dark shelled eggs.

Well, the big Thursday Power Outage is finally over. It lasted 4 hours, not 5 as was predicted.

I decided to keep the eggs in the incubator, put in a hot water bottle, and cover the whole thing with blankets. I've done that before, but not for quite as long.
It actually went too hot the first half-hour, and I needed to open the door to ventilate. Which of course made it colder faster, but rather cold than too hot... After that it sank slowly, but not horribly. When I restarted it again after 4 hours it was on 89.6 F.

The worst part was waiting for it to be over. I walked my dogs twice. lol

Of my test run I pulled 2. They were clear and no love dots day 1.5 the others, I am not sure yet, maybe soon.

If more are clear, I will not hunt down any hatching eggs an may wait until Easter.
