Growing Monster Chicks

I have a rooster and his name is Squatch, I decided that I was going to breed him with my red sex links and Delaware... The results have been extremely shocking. I have raised chickens for over 5 years and I have never seen chicks this big! They are only 18 days old and some of them have wattles already just look at these legs!!!! I will be keeping some of the pullets because I want to see how they lay.

The cockerels will be meat chickens (this was our purpose for these chicks).

Squatch makes gorgeous chicks. I'm so in love with my Black Jersey Giant!

This chick is red sex link / black Jersey Giant. It weighs 8.5 oz.

He was a fast maturing Jersey Giant and it seems his offspring took after that part of him. His brother Sid is slowly maturing. He's 6 months and at the raging teen stage, Squatch acts like a 2 year old rooster, but is the same age.

Yeah we thought Sid was a Pullet until he crowed, he had a small come and barely any wattles like a pullet. He's a sneaky one, I have to watch him closely.

I put them all outside today in the chain link dog kennel, I thought they were too big to slip through... All 21 ran into the woods i had to call DH and he left work early!

We caught all of the. I had to climb and crawl in Vines and thorn bushes we put fencing on the bottom half so they shouldn't be able to get out again... Let's hope

As soon as one made it through the chain link fence all of the other ones started following it. I was so mad

You breed anything with a delaware and you're getting turkey sized chicks.
Iv'e been here,... just once... never, never, never again.
