Our chickens, GG, Westley, Harper and Dorothy are very loud all the time! It’s crazy to see how big they’ve got and how different they’re acting vs. when we first got them. They’re probably about 2-3 weeks old now. Westley is starting to fly and grow way faster than the others. We don’t have a coop ready, so we figured we’d make a larger cardboard enclosure that they (mostly Westley) can’t jump out of. The weird thing is, they still hate us. We try to hold them and they just act terrified. What can we do?

I'm a new chick mom, so keep that in mind. My four are also between 2 - 3 weeks old, all flying a little bit - they are looking really tattered right now as their down gets replaced by their feathers. Even though they are pretty comfortable with me - two of them will hop up on my legs and they all mob me when I go to see them now because I usually have treats like meal worms, or ants that I caught in my kitchen- but they still don't like being held. The two Polish act like I'm going to eat them. The other two, who are the boldest and calmest and hop around me all the time, don't care for it and also fuss but not as badly. I move slowly around them and never come down from above, it's always from the side. They're not fighting me but they're not exactly cuddly either. I figure it will just take more time, they are certainly associating me with good things now, and they are growing so fast and changing so much, every day is something new with them!
