Hi everyone,

I have a three year old barred rock hen who is limping today. The limping isn't terrible, but it is noticeable. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that she has this growth or protrusion on her leg. I don't know if they are related or not. I have attached a picture of the growth. She is otherwise acting and eating normally.

Please give me any ideas. The growth is new to me. I have never seen this before.

Thank you!

She's growing a spur, which is unrelated.

Check her feet for bumble, if there's no bumble, then she may have just sprained herself.

How is your Barred Rock doing? I ask, because I am having the same situation here with our 3yo Barred Rock. She's limped a bit in the past, but recovered over time. No bumblefoot, nor damage, swelling or mites. It started last week and has gotten worse. She started hopping on one leg. :( We kept her in a dog crate in the run for a 3 days, and thought to let her out today to see how she's doing. She's not really moving at all. Just sitting there pecking the ground but eating the food I place in front of her. I read in another post to cage for 10 days but give 1/2 tab Vit B with food every day. Then see how it goes. If not improved, try for another 10 days. Did you do that and how did it turn out for her?
