My how fast they grow! Here were my bantam chicks when I first brought them home on the 4rth:
Cute babies...
Growing feathers!
Ugly, awkward teens!
I set them up in bigger digs today - with perching, a hide box, and the introduction of fresh foods:
And look how interested they were in their new greens! -_-
I also have two new chooks:
This baby was stuck on its back, head totally submerged, in a waterer at TSC. I thought it was dead, but when I pulled it out it weakly struggled. I held it head down and patted its back until all of the water and mucous had drained from its lungs, then took the shivering, slightly sneezy bird home after pointing out to employees that there was a good chance of it developing aspiration pneumonia without special care.
I also picked up this little guy, who was badly splay legged and skinny from having trouble getting to the food:
All splinted up!
Standing just fine!
