There's no good place to ask this question, but this seems the closest....
At what age would you say laying/duel purpose breeds are at half weight?
Just curious how big this BR cockerel will be. He seems huge! He's 12 weeks and 4.5lbs and all leg and feet. I'm thinking at least 9 lbs full grown. He's already taller than my 7lb EE hen. Hopefully he won't be an a$$ because at this size he should be good predator protection. The biggest of the pullets he's with is only 2.5lbs, so he just looks enormous. Thanks for any guesses!

Generally speaking, he's about halfway there right now. So much can affect rate of growth, there really isn't a set formula.

What I've noticed is a chicken will reach close to full size by four to six months, but for the next two years, they will continue to fill out their frames. I've also noticed that occasionally, a chicken will continue to increase in overall size beyond those two years if they were behind for some reason as youngsters.

The increase is sometimes not very obvious unless you spend an awful lot of time with your chickens as some of us, ahem, end up doing because it's always a good excuse to get out of doing stuff, like for example, work.

Or just because they are damn good company 😊 I figured he was close to half way, but since he gained 10 Oz last week, one week on either side makes a gigantic difference. We also had a minor cocci situation about 2 weeks ago which probably set him back a little. Bottom line, I guess, he's going to be enormous, at least 9 lbs. Never had a BR before. Meyer decided to throw him in the box.
