Growth suddenly appeared on dog's dewclaw

Hi, this suddenly appeared on my dog's dewclaw. It is very painful for him. Is there any way to treat this at home, without the expense of surgery?

It almost looks as if the skin is torn. I doubt surgery would be required but a vet visit might be necessary. Keeping the area clean is a good start.

I agree, it looks like the outer layer of the claw has been torn off. He probably caught his claw on something. Keep it clean with something like Vetericyn Plus. Also, his claws are very long and could use a trim.

Looks like the nail is broken and the soft tissue inside is exposed/swollen. You may want to wrap it for a few days (if he’ll let you). It will grow back weird if you can’t get it evened out at the base (often requires sedation if the mail doesn’t die and fall off on its own).

A vet visit could be very helpful and needed. But wrap it, get some vetericyn spray(for dogs not for chickens or other animals).
It looks like he tore the outer fur/skin off, but it could be worse.

He also needs a nail trim, his nails are to long. That means that he could injure another part of his paw. Start trimming weekly if possible. Its painful if their nails are to long.

Thanks you were right, the nail sheath was stripped off the declaw. It has healed on its own so far.
