GRRR! My rooster won't mate!

Mrs Prissy has good advice for you. Well done Mrs Prissy

I had a Blue Ameraucana roo that didn't attempt to mate until he was almost 11 months old.

I have a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana roo, hatched the first part of July who is getting the job done! *I'll be testing his fertility next month.

Some of the hens didn't lay until they were 10 months old.

Patience.
Mahonri, I have both wheaten roo brothers that I got from you. The boys who were hatched mid April of this year. They aren't even interested in the ladies yet. One crows all the time, the other one crowed for the first time last week! I guess they are only 7 months old still....patience is something I need to have with the boys I guess lol.

Is he the only roo in with the hens? If he is have you checked the eggs to see if they're fertile? It's possible that he is mating the hens, but sees you as the dominant roo and won't "bother" them while you're around. I would think 11 months would be more than old enough to get the job done.
how do u check for fertile egg? ?

Give him until spring.  It's natural for spring to be a high-mating time of year.  If nothing happens come spring, then you start to worry.

He's probably just slow to develop.

(Why don't I ever get a rooster like that?  Roosters drive me nuts with all of the crowing and harrassing of my hens!  I would dearly love a rooster that just looked pretty and didn't annoy me and my lovely girls.....   Okay, I'm done.  Sorry!)

Iam having the the same issue with my 11month old splash Orphington Roo he is by self with a black australorp hen who is 4 years old and hasn't breed yet!!!! Although they have been together for 3 days and has showed no rooster behavior at all!!!! And I want to hatch babies!!!!!!!! This boy better get is act together

Have you been watching them every minute of the day? How else could you know? If they've only been together 3 days, they probably are still getting acquainted.

Ok how long do u think it will take?? Before he gets the hang of it cause the last time he was with a hen was about 6 to 7 months ago.

It's impossible to say. It may have already happened and you didn't see it. They don't mate all day every day. When you collect that hen's eggs, you could crack a couple of them open and see if they are fertilized.
