I'm giving away 2 roosters FREE, put up an ad on Freecycle.org and great, I had 3 or 4 enthusiastic responses so I was happy. I went with the first person who wrote in who asked if she could please pick them up Monday (yesterday) even though I had put in the ad on Saturday morning. I expected to have them gone Sunday but I agreed to let her pick them up Monday. In the meantime my coop doors have been shut because I didn't have a cage to put the roosters in (taking care of that today). My Hamburgs prefer to sleep outside but I have some Wyandottes who prefer to be inside and they haven't been able to get in the coop because the doors have been shut waiting for that lady to come get the roosters.

Yesterday we emailed back and forth a few times about a transport device, etc and then 4:00 or so I just stop hearing from her but I figure we're all set and I'd just see her that evening. I waited and waited and waited... finally at 10:00 I said she's out and I'm going with the next person who responded.

How rude was that?!?! I told her the situation with my chickens and the fact that I NEED the coop back ASAP and she couldn't just tell me she didn't want them in the first place?! I couldn't believe how rude that was. So late last night I wrote to the next person and asked if they could PLEASE come today to get them, but I'm going to get a cage anyway. I was shocked and mad because I generally trust people to do the right thing and in my experience they usually do, so I was unprepared for this.

Is common. Had a return no-show response though! Great to confront them on the second time. But if you get an address and phone # weeds out the riff-raff. Does not eliminate it. Some people get upset sometimes because I didn't respond to them fast enough; until they find out how many hoaxes there are. They understand then.

Repeat no-shows?! That's just plain rotten! Good idea getting an address and phone number- I'll do that next time for sure, starting with the lady who hopefully is coming today. My other chicken transactions- buying, selling, giving away have all gone so smoothly I never imagined this would happen in a million years. But now I know better. Sigh...

Ive got someone that was real excited about roos I was giving away. I called and have left 2 messages, no calls back yet. He wants to come tomorrow so if he hasnt called by the end of today, next guy on my list gets them.

Yeah, we've been through the no-show routine thing, too. Now when we have something for sale we just tell people whoever shows up first with the money gets the deal. No more waiting for this person, then that person, blah, blah, blah. Don't "HOLD" anything for anybody!

That's good advice too. I'm not making the holding mistake again, that's for sure! I can't believe how common that is- it just goes against all decency but I guess some people aren't bothered by that.

One of my Wyandottes is not with the flock this morning, I hope he's just taking his time catching up and is not a pile of feathers because of me not being able to shake this naivete about people. Ugh, I feel so stupid.
