grubs from the compost pile

We have a pile of composting woodchips that we dig into and add to our garden. found some grubs and gave them to our 6 wk old chicks to see what they'd do ... what fun to watch the crazy game of Keep Away as they tried to find a corner to hide in and eat in peace - only to have another fast chick steal it away!!!

We are new at this, but hope the grubs are OK for them. They seemed to instinctively go for them, especially if they wiggled a bit.
 
Their fine to give to them but you need to make sure you give them some grit also!!

Their such a blast to watch when they get a juicy treat!!

Every so often I use a landscape rake to drag the barnyard.
The chickens all follow close behind it to pounce on any goodies I turn up.
Sometimes I have to push them out of the way with the rake, or the tractor tire
