Guess I have to be patient.

Discussion in 'Chicken Behaviors and Egglaying' started by suesleepysue, Feb 10, 2013.

  1. My year old Barred Holland has stopped laying. She isn't broody at this time and she doesn't act ill. But she quiet and stand-offish from the other girls. She isn't eating much but she is pecking at the floor as if to find something that's tasty. She has always pretty much kept to herself.
Last Aug she was broody and when she made an appearance - the other girls picked on her.
Guess I need to be patient and just watch her?

I have an old cochin hen that acts just the same way. She hasn't layed an egg since August. I am hoping in the spring she will get broody.
