I have 3 Buff Orpingtons and was curious if anyone could confirm or deny my suspicions on whether or not one of our pullets may be a roo after all! They will be 6 weeks old tomorrow. Thank you so much in advance!

I should say *give their guess* since time is the only real way to know for sure!

I, like everyone el
I have pigeons. They are notorious for even seasoned loft breeders to sex. I personally use what works for pigeon sexing on other birds. A cock, it seems even early on, has very very round eyes and a hen will have cor er ducts and a slight fold at bottom of eye. See pigeon pic. I have found this true on ducks too. Oh wow! All of the googling I have done I haven’t come across that yet! Very interesting, thank you!!

I am thinking cockerel for the one with the larger comb. I actually have a few six week old Orpingtons right now myself that I keep going back and forth on too 🤣 Mine are still a bit immature now though with some chick fluff still because the English are slow to mature. What's seems to be very definitive with mine is comb redness and yours is looking pretty red at the moment.

This is incredibly interesting! I am now so excited to try it out on my own to confirm or not. I'm sure it takes an expert eye to get used to the method, but it would be so great if it works! I love helping people with the sex of birds and this would be awesome for a backup on tough ones to tell. Sometimes I just feel one is a cockerel based on what I thought was just facial bone structure, but maybe it was the eyes I was subtly picking up on all along!
