I'm still working on identifying the assorted bantams I ordered a couple of weeks ago. It was pretty impossible when they were just little fluffy things, but now they're getting some feathers in and maybe we can figure some out. These are all bantam breeds, from Ideal Hatchery. (except for the 'packing peanuts' which I am not entirely sure of breed on either) So lets have fun figuring out what I've got. Let me know what you think on breed and sex, if you have a reasonable guess or know for sure on anything here.

#1 sort of a weird 'dirty' white color--not quite pure white, but certainly not buff either. I have a feeling it 'should' be white, but it's just hatchery quality, so who knows...Clean legs, not sure on comb type.

#2 is buff and clean-legged. Not sure of comb type on any of them, I will have to look at them with a magnifying glass they are so tiny!

#3 is clean legged and sort of an unidentifiable brownish-blackish mottled color. The legs are orange. My guesses are either EE or maybe mottled OEG.

#4 is clean legged and either splash or maybe really badly marked silver lace. The feathers are white and black/dark gray on the wings. The down on the body is light yellow/white with almost an overlay of a silvery color

#5 is sort of a bluish brown color, and feather legged, with faint chipmunk stripes on the back. The feathers also cover the middle toe. It is feathering in a tan and black or blue spotted color...I'm guessing blue mille fleur d'uccle? At least that's what I want them to be...

#6 started as a chipmunk color chick. It is feathering in a brown and black, it sort of looks like the wings on a moth. It's clean legged and the legs look like they are turning sort of olive green. I'm thinking EE?

Ok, so I am SOO new to this, but the 2nd to last one has the coloring of my BLR Wyandottes (but they are standard size) and the last one looks like some of my Amerucana/EE pullets. Hope someone more knowledgable chimes in!

Thanks for the input.

The second to last has feathered feet, so it's not a Wyandotte. Still not sure what it is though.

I've done some more comparing to the hatchery's website then to photos....could #1 be a white leghorn? #4 seems to match most closely to Columbian Wyandottes, is that a good possibility? It's hard to tell in the hatchery's illustrations what color the legs are on those Wyandotte chicks.

Hmm....and I thought I had it figured out! It sure looked like the illustration on the website, but I'd prefer to trust someone who actually knows what they look like. I got a lot of unidentifiable chicks in this bunch...I'll have to try some more pictures, I have plenty of others I am not sure of too.

I think you are right on the Brahmas. Too bad, I really hoped for some D'Uccles.

Here's one more. It's definitely blue, but a blue what? Old English game?

No feathered feet on that one. And I just looked at the Red Pyle Old English Game--I think it's a possibility for #1 at least. #2 is definitely buff colored.
