No I know that, but all dog breeds have started out as mixes. Generations upon generations of mixes to perfect the breed. She is a breed but a new one, so guess the mixture.A pure breed is a dog that has been breed over several decades to keep strains pure. Example: Great Danes, German Shepherds, Etc They are not some F1 or F2 generation crosses. They have taken years to ensure that they breed true. Chiweenies, Labradooles, YorkiePoo etc are not a pure breed. They are mutts.
nopeGerman Shepherd/Boxer?
Can you actually get papers for hybrids (Labradoodles, etc.)?No I know that, but all dog breeds have started out as mixes. Generations upon generations of mixes to perfect the breed. She is a breed but a new one, so guess the mixture.
p.sp: I am a groomer and it drives me batty when people tell me they have a purebred "labradoodle" with PAPERS!
Not with any legitimate registry. Can you actually get papers for hybrids (Labradoodles, etc.)?
Quote: Generally any animal that will breed true 75% of the time is a breed. Registry want to say what is an is not a breed but there is no authority that actually does that. If you breed two breeds together an get puppies that does not make a new breed. If you breed those crosses together till after a few generations, 75% of the puppies can be predicted to look like the parents, then it has become a breed. Later, after enough people are breeding your new breed, they can make a group an submit it to be listed as a breed by kennel clubs. Lots of people see that as becoming a breed at that point but that is just politics. It became a breed at the point most of the kids looked just like the parents repeatably.
There are pure breed Labradoodles at this point along with Carolina pincher's an others that started as a cross but most are still just crosses.
