Guess the Breed--Horse!

Macho is almost but not quite 32 inches at the shoulder. He is a Miniature Horse. He doesn't fit in even the smallest carts so we made him his own little custom cart. He also rides independently all over our tiny farm. His friend George is also a mini horse and stands 36" high. That's my Abby, she and her twin ride him everywhere with just a halter and no need for a saddle.

This is Annie, they can handle him easily and never any trouble. The tamest dude we've ever had and he's a stud!!! We actually got him as one of our rescues, the lady that had him had no idea what he was and was told he was a gelding and just a baby that needed to grow. Well she had him six months and called me to look at him cause he wasn't growing at all. I checked him and his teeth said he was a 3yr old and he had dropped. Her grand children were already in their teens so she had no use for him. He was skinny, wormy and had a good goopy cold going on that he needed antibiotics for. He's now a healthy 8yrs old and is the best when it comes to teaching timid children to ride. We rescued his blond buddy George just last spring in the same poor shape but George is now also well on his way to being a carbon copy of Macho only he really is a gelding!

I caught Annie and Macho a few weeks ago on a "chicken roundup"! They were attempting to herd our chickens out of the pasture but was too lazy to do it on foot! I just wished I could have gotten the Brahma's she was herding in the photo too.... it was just too funny.... Susie Q

Dakota is maybe 13.3hh? He is also a rescue I brought home 4yrs ago and another of our best animals to ride. He is a quarter/ welsh cross. They were hoping to get a much bigger animal but he just never grew. His father was the 15hh quarter horse paint, his mother the 13.2 welsh. He has a wonderful personality but can be stubborn and loves to herd his little mare ponies. He also came in very poor shape but within a few months on our "magic" grass, filled out beautifully. He and I did a 3+ hour ride last fall and by the end everyone but us was huffing and sweating to get up and down the wooded trails. We were still ready to go! But we ride together all the time. I use him too for equine therapy for young military families and folks with disabilities. With the right rider he is no dead head but seems to understand when he needs more patience with his rider. Just like his little buddy Macho! And they are all really great together as a mixed herd! I am so proud of all my little critters!
