Both breeds are supposed to be 4 weeks
white ones look like leghorns, and the reddish ones look like red stars
Yikes, looks like you have some meat birds (cornish/rock) in with your RIR chicks.
Btw, I think one of the white ones is a boy, as is one of the reds. The rest all look like pullets to me!
The white ones I think are cornish cross (meat birds) and the red ones are....well.......red ones lol. I see a pretty good comb one one, so don't think they're sex-links, maybe rir or production reds.
ummmm, are they the same age? The white ones look like behemoths compared to the red stars (RIR?)...so I would have to say red stars and cornish cross meat birds.
something happened to my post a few minutes ago, but yep sure looks like you got meat birds in there!
Yep, have to agree. The whites are Cornish cross (aka "meaties"). They look so much bigger than the reds because they are meat birds and meant to grow extremely fast. They are expected to be at butcher size by about 6-8 weeks old.
The reds look to be production reds.
Leghorn pullets, they might also be Cornish X but they look to small for that
The white ones are 100% Cornish X (meat birds). They are WAY too big and meaty to be White Leghorns. Leghorns are very dainty and slender chickens.
Here's a link to a thread with a pic of 6 week old White Leghorns: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=511251
Quote:Leghorn pullets would be the same size as the reds though since all of the birds are the same age.
