Thought I'd make a thread where the question can be asked repeatedly since I was about to ask and saw a couple of other threads in the same vein.

Our first hatch has these interesting smoky-colored chicks. We have a mixed flock and these were all sired by our Italian, but the hens are Pharoh, Tibetan and Tibetan tuxedo. So this is some sort of throwback (I do know they came from a mixed flock, so anything could be in there.)

I’m guessing it will be more red as an adult, but will look more dull because of the gray down and smoky horizontal bars. I also predict it’s male.

Also, I have 2 of my “teenage” chicks that have a similar look, but I believe mine will red up more, and yours will be more Smokey. Pure speculation tho.

Red would make sense, since they probably came from Colombia, my Tibetan.

What signs say male to you? I've got a lot of non-feather-sexable chicks in this group!

(I have two like this, one is smaller than the other and I'm fairly certain that one is a rooster - the one you can see most prominently is larger and rounder...I'm hoping it is a hen...but we all know how that can go!)

Most of my pharaohs in this hatch are rusting out on the chest (they are 19 days old...)
