I definitely see some Scottish Terrier in there. Here's a pic of some Scotty puppies for comparison...

Your pup has some length of leg and a muzzle that isn't as pointed, so I'd say the mystery parent could be sharpei, or pit bull perhaps? Maybe some Lab or Chow.

He reminds me of Pippi our Schnauzer mix pup, look for the thread as I have a TON of pix on it of her lol

of course I think he is beyond adorable! I said if Pippi had been a boy she would of been "oliver" or "buster"

I'm leaning away from the shepherd/chow, or anything else with a thick double coat. His undercoat is really slick and short. There is definite Terrier of some kind! Looking at the Scottie's coat, Rex's is a lot sparser on the outer coat. You can definitely see his undercoat, even in the pics. But, that is the closest actual "breed" he looks like.

This is really fun and interesting! I think most of the Asian breeds have black or colored tongues, so that could be anything!

You know they do have those DNA tests now where you can just swab the inside of their mouth and find all the breeds that went into them. Not sure how expensive they are, but it sure would be interesting!!

That up close shot of the face looks very much like our Skye Terrier did when it was young.

He's got a scottish terrier face, but his legs look kinda long.........and those EARS! What a cutie-pie! LOL

Some kind of German Wirehaired Pointer mix perhaps. Very cute!
