Guess what I found this morning! (Egg pic added)

Congrats Buster on your eggs.

Me I am in the UP of MI and out of 14 hens my youngest a BR hen is the only one who will lay. Darn free loaders.

I am getting 1 egg 3 days straight and then one day without, go figure

Guess I really can't blame them yesterday morning at 8:30 when I went to feed and water it was 4 degrees, now this morning was 3 degrees and a white out from lake effect snow. Who the yeck would want to lay in that.

Thanks!

Do you have a light on in the coop? That's what made all the difference to my layers. Last winter when we were in negative temps we still got eggs each day because they had plenty of light.

The funny part about this roo is we didn't eat him or donate him to the kids' rodeo because he was so cool looking. We hadn't originally planned on using him for anything but I think we have changed our minds now. He's really come into his own now.

No I don't have any lights in the coop, I really been struggling with this as I been watching Cyn's (speckledhen) threads on the internal layers. So I been going back and forth on it.

However with these temps dropping so low this early I am thinking we are going to have a month or more of below zero weather ahead of us as well as record snows.

Man I have to move to warmer weather, I stay here as there is no poisonous snakes or gators here, but I might have to rethink that as I just can't take the cold like I use to, health issues.

Let me know when ya got hatching eggs. I will see if I have a bator open (I have 4 so that shouldn't be a problem but ya never know LOL).

Buster, the General is Gorgeous!!!!

I have some EE chicks in the brooder/small coop and they all hatched from pretty blue eggs! I can't wait to see what color they lay, but I hatched out some mutt eggs last winter and I got a green layer! I was so thrilled because I thought that they were 2nd generation red sexlinks.

The kids love her eggs!
