I have four Barred Rocks laying and they lay in the same nest regularly. I knew one of my OEGBs had to be laying or very close but day after day nothing and then I by accident found two little eggs in the garage! It was a surprise and I was excited and confused. I found another in the garage but on a sleeping bag I saw her sitting on. I decided to keep the garage door closed thinking it may force her to go to the coop..Then, next day I found one in the nest-yay! I figured she had gone to the nest or my second OEGB started laying. But then NOTHING! A couple of days went by and my second OEGB was taken by a bird of some kind and Lizzy stopped being so independent and started staying close to the flock. I also never received another OEGB egg in the nest or garage (that I found) today as I collecting eggs, I again searched all the little areas that I've seen her near or could be hiding a nest-NOTHING! Well, I'm a Christian and was talking to God about my situation and expressing my distress and requested his assistance (immediately felt guilty because it was so petty in this world) but went along the pasture finishing up my chores, I came back up to the house to now check on the brooder chicks, I have a sliding glass door that I usually go into that's 12 feet from the brooder but as I started for the door I decided to go around the house and thru the garage. As I walked around the house something caught my eye under the push mower, I looked under and there it was A NEST OF OEGB EGGS! I couldn't believe it and THANK YOU GOD! There is only like three inches under that mower, I don't know how I ever saw it (well actually I do) because the nest was almost dead center. I brought them in and other than being quite dirty they were all in good shape, the water test had no floaters and they all were on their sides, eight in total.
Now, I just need to figure out how I'm going to get her to start laying with the others in the coop.
