EGGS!!!!!

I haven't seen an egg except two pullet eggs that were laid last week! Before that it was the end of August, begining of September.

I found 1 in my Silkie pen, so I was sooooo excited had to look for more, then I found 4 more on my back porch. Three from my Games and 1 FBCM!!!!!!!

OK...I'm not able to really get excited right now. Although I cracked one open and it WAS fertile. OK I am excited.

BUT

Last week my grand daughter let her little friends in my backyard. She came in and let me brush her hair and went back out. I heard "Don't Do That! My grandma's is gonna be really really mad!" I could hear terror in her voice.

They had opened both the roos' pen and the pen with all my big girls. I walked out the door and when they saw the looking on my face they bolted. They were falling all over eachother and couldn't even get out of the gate. Seriously. It was funny later, but not at that moment. I was chasing chickens and furious. I locked them all up and we had rain coming, so I filled all the waters and feeders in case I didn't get out the next day and the next night I had chickens all over my porch. I didn't know where the damage had been done till today. Was kind of too late to worry at that point, so today I went out and cleaned the porch and repaired most of what they did. I didn't see where they had broken the nesting boxes in both coops and they were getting out that way. One is almost finished and hopefully I can still move tomorrow, so I can finish that one and start on the other.

I had about 7 nesting boxes sitting on my porch and a cardboard box that I tossed out till I ventured to the trash. Guess where they laid the eggs? Guess the box was probably more comfortable than bare wood.

So I tossed 4 eggs in the bator and I'm going to be hatching everything for the next month until I know I have no more boo boo chicks. Did I mention they had also opened the Silkie pen? Yeah I caught that little hairball finally and put him back in with his girl. The hen stayed, but that boy has a death wish.

Well if things went wrong I should have some really nice EEs and Olive Eggers. But at least they're laying. Now I have to wait at least 3 weeks to find out if there was a breed fest in my backyard. I know there was.

Me too.

I don't think I've ever been this excited about eggs before. LOL

I've never had chickens and not had eggs year round.

Spring is coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
