Guess what I got for a TRICK instead of a TREAT??? (PIC HEAVY)

we usually keep the shotgun handy, but since i am restricted for 6 months after a seizure, it's all about the shovel. i have whacked many an opossum with a spade.

we only have one type of rattler in Michigan, and pretty rare. when i find snakes, i just grab 'em up and feed them to the chickens.

weird though, since we got chickens, we have less varmints around. maybe my mutt, Huck-a-Buck, freaks them out?

heres a pic of my oldest,, with her gatorade and candy face,,, hehe ,, i told her i was gonna tell people she chewed the snakes head off

Ugh. My dad killed a 6 foot one when I was a kid and turned it into a belt. He left the rattler in my room. I HATED going into his closet. Still gives me shudders.

Nice job Jim! Looks about the same size my nephews got a few weeks ago.

You will want to deep fry that baby, that's the best way to fix 'em. Used to go to the rattlesnake round-up down in Opp Alabama many years ago, and they used to fix it all different ways, but fried was always the best.

Use a corn meal breading mix like you would use fer your catfish and fry him up. Should be some good eatin!

Enjoy!

Well when we married ten years ago I still had teens at home and had a no gun house. DH came with a case full of guns and used to go on big time corporate hunts. My rule was all guns locked in cabinet; bullets locked up somewhere else; and clips locked somewhere else. I wasn't so worried about my kids getting into the guns but I traveled for a living and the kids, who were high school age, always had parties while I was gone (neighbors would always tell on them) and would have friends and people they didn't even know in and out of our home - so I was pretty adamant about no guns.

Now that we're in the country I've had to run inside three different times and call for him to come running with his gun. Once Rex (our GSD) had something cornered in the barn and it was howling and growling and I couldn't call the dog off (turns out it was an armadillo and a hole full of them); then there was a anaconda-sized water moccasin (three actually) that the dogs had discovered on our dried up pond eating the dying fish; then finally the timber rattler in the yard right by our side steps. So my rules have changed - no longer any kids at home - all grown and married or military now - just DH and I and the critters we need to protect.

I do thank the Lord that the rattler and the moccasins did not bite the dogs that were, in both cases, just standing over them and barking non-stop at them.

I've heard there is a new snake vaccine that can be given to dogs, before the fact, so that if they are bitten the effects are less - applies to rattlers and not water moccasins though but the timber rattlers are very bad around these woods right now.

ewwww!

Your poor wife...Thank goodness you were able to kill it with it being right around where your children play.
My son and husband have barbecued the ones they have killed and LOVE it. I passed on eating any.

Snakes are the one animal I DO NOT like.

Gorgeous snake, too bad it was too close to the house. Im a snake fanatic myself, that sucker is huge. As for the "Corn" snake, it looks more like a Gopher or a Bull. Im not sure what is indigenous to your area, but its definitely not a corn. I own 6 corns myself, and it has a totally different look to it. It looks like the Gopher Snakes I see around here. I have a photo of one I caught recently, but I dont post pics on other people's posts unless they ask.
