GRASS!We get excited to see grass in October,just after a rain! That just tells us winter is just around the corner!
Now we get to plant those sweet peas,green peas...just had some asparagas from the garden this weekend-(it is a kind of grass!)

Yup, I was outside Saturday and looked down and was thrilled to see some bits of green.... under the brown that is.
Then yesterday DH moved the pile of leaves that Mom had piled up to the side of the drive and was shocked to see tons of green grass under it. Now he's decided the trick to a nice lawn is piling leaves, a deep layer, all over and leaving it there for the winter... I think maybe he just doesn't wanna rake leaves but guess we'll see.
9" of hardpack left, but it's going fast. Canada geese around here are desperate for grass- both they and the deer are starving. The ground has been covered with deep snow (for this area) for over 2 months. I'm also desperate for the grass. This has been a hard winter. Thanks to this forum.
