Our Jersey Giant cockerel! Some of our 3-1/2 month old chicks likes to sleep in the community nesting box. So, last night, DH and I went to love them. He pauses and asked, "who is that on the eggs?". It was Broken Toe, our Jersey Giant cockerel! He was happily sitting on 4 eggs!
He wasn't sitting near them...or sorta of next to them.. he was ON them! Like a hen! Now before anyone asks, he is DEFINITELY a roo! He is huge (already 6.5 lbs!), big comb and wattles, roo tail, stocky legs, acts like a roo....definitely a roo. Why was he sitting on the eggs? Just a comfy place maybe? I have heard that roos will show the girls where to lay, but it was at night!
