My only roo is a black sex link (I think, he was a refugee).

I recently hatched 4 chicks... 3 from brown eggs (yellow, Omelet, and 2 of the black, Benedict and Drumstick)
Omelet has a few tiny dark spots on her, top of head and side of neck.

I think Omelet, Benedict and Drumstick all came from Isa brown eggs (one might be a EE who lays brown) and all have single combs.

and 1 from a green egg (black, has pea comb and feathered cheeks, Fluffy).
All of the black have white spots on their heads, but 1 of them is not very "regular" (Drumstick).

I have NO IDEA what these will feather out to look like. Does anyone have any ideas? Does the spot mean all the black will be barred?

Just curious, I don't know that much about chicken genetics, but I find it fascinating!

Congrats on your cute chicks!

If you use a black barred rooster, you're pretty much going to get black barred chicks. The red and silver in the sex links can cause other things to pop up, like your white chick. But yes, your black chicks with white head spots will all be barred. Since they only have one barred parent, you can't use the size/shape of the spot or other rules of sexing barred birds, you'll have to wait for comb size, etc around 6ish weeks to determine gender.

sounds like you have the possibility of a barred Easter egger in there---I don't know why, but those just fascinate me!
