Guinea alarm system

They are only noisy if there is a slight breeze, another animal can be heard within a 2 mile radius, a car starts, a human speaks, a leaf falls from a tree, hahahahaha.....!

Mine screeched for 2 hours because an armadillo was digging in the yard. I finally had enough of it and had my DH shoot the armadillo and then they screamed for another 2 hours from the gunshot and then spent the rest of the afternoon "hiding" on my metal roof.

Ever heard 16 guineas sliding and running all over a metal roof? GAAH!

But I still love my gins

Txchickie, had to laugh at the metal roof thing. Our boy guineas end up on our metal house roof while they're chasing each other, what a noise!

On the other hand, they & our chickens couldn't give a darn one way or another about gun noise. We don't even shoot that much but when we do seems there are always birds wandering around between the shooting bench and the backstop...good thing we're not bad shots!

I have to add a few more 'exceptions' to their gardening diet. Mine have a fondness for cabbage, will eat lettuce to no end, ate potato and tomato plants to the ground, (I know, I know, they are poisonous and the keets (we only have 2), were locked out of the garden but flew in dozens of times eating dozens of plants to the ground scaring me half to death

and waiting for them to keel over dead as we frantically built them an expensive aviary to house them in but they never ever got sick

so I'm wondering if they really are that poisonous

They devour ANYTHING that is green here. We are afraid to wear green clothing! They can scratch the dirt around your plants until the roots are exposed killing the plants. Who said they can't devastate your garden sure don't know my babies.

Guineas are worth the racket for the tick removal service alone. They spend all day roaming the property for bugs.
My Guineas have made the alarm racket for foxes, dogs, strange cats, cars driving up, change in the wind, change of mind, cloud over the sun, tractors starting up in the distance, where's my food bucket deliverer, and other things that I have no clue to.
